2022-2023 School Year

August 29th, 2022-May 26th, 2023!

2023-2024 School Year

August 28th, 2023-May 24th, 2024!

Our days are broken down into various activities that are developmentally appropriate for the children enrolled in our program. We ensure that lessons are differentiated to meet the children's individual needs & are tailored to instruct them where they are developmentally but also
scaffold them to reach further goals.

We also POTTY TRAIN! Through songs, literature, & discussion, we help your child transition from pull-ups to underwear by encouraging independence & self-help skills. We assist with the process & will work with you to help your child achieve this milestone!

Our activities vary based on lesson objectives and are either whole group, small group, or individual. We design our program around youth sports and teamwork, as both physical and social-emotional development are just as crucial as academics, particularly at this stage of a child's development. Physical activities promote a healthy lifestyle while teamwork fosters discipline, confidence, accountability & how to resolve conflict.

The children in our program learn how to experience succeed-or-fail situations in a safe, nurturing environment: with every failure comes a lesson, and with every success comes confidence. Our unqiue program will truly ignite whole-child growth & development and instill skills that will be carried for a lifetime.

We are a state licensed facility and follow all of PA state childcare regulations. See below for more information.

Meet Miss Alexa

Hey LVST families! My name is Alexa Sylvainus, and I am the Sports Director/Facility Manager here at the Turf. I grew up and currently reside in Nazareth. I attended Syracuse University, where I studied Inclusive Elementary and Special Education with a minor in Mathematics. Some of my favorite memories in college were cheering on Syracuse sports teams in the Carrier Dome, as well as living in New York City while student teaching in some of the most diverse and unique schools in the city.

From a young age, I knew that working with children was my passion. I have over 8 years of experience in early childhood education and having the opportunity to merge my passion for early childhood education and sports at LVST is a dream come true! I believe that every child learns best when they are invited into a positive, fun, and explorative environment that gives them the tools to unlock their full potential to learn. Not only am I committed to providing this environment at LVST, I’m also a firm believer in the power of sports and fitness to develop fundamental confidence and leadership skills from a young age. I’m excited to get to know each individual personality and supply them with the appropriate experiences and tools to grow—the sky’s the limit!

When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, or playing and watching sports. I am a huge Dallas Cowboys and New York Mets fan. I am also very big into fitness and spend much of my spare time weightlifting at the gym.

See ya at The Turf!

Meet Miss Michele

Hello Families at LVST! My name is Michele Walter and I am your Child Care Director here at LVST. I currently live in Bethlehem with my husband, Brad, two sons, Ryan and Austin, and our two German Shepherds, Cali and Mya. I have been working in the Early Childhood field since 2010, so, needless to say I enjoy working with children. I find working with children to be a rewarding career and love being able to find ways to help them grow to be successful individuals. I believe when you know and understand each child you can provide an environment that will meet their needs so they can become successful. I also believe that providing an environment that allows children to have fun, socialize with others, and support their interests in an active way is a great start to success for them, and I am excited to join the team at LVST to add that active component to their learning. These kids are our future and to be someone who can even have a small impact on them in some way is more than I can ever ask for. In 2014, I obtained my Associates Degree in Early Childhood then later my Director's Credential in 2019, both from Northampton Community College. I have years of experience as a classroom teacher from infants to school agers and experience managing and directing a team under me. I am excited to use what I have learned to create a fun and welcoming experience not only for your child, but for all the families. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cooking, snowboarding, playing board games, spending time outside, teaching my kids how to play sports, and listening to country and Christian music.

I am so excited to meet you and get to know you and your children! See you all soon!

Meet Miss Kelly

Hi LVST families! My name is Kelly and

I am beyond excited to be among the talented team of women here at LVST and being one of the lead preschool teachers for this upcoming school year.

I graduated from Emmaus High School in 2018 and I have been working with children for the past five years in a childcare and classroom setting. I have one dog named Duke and a cat named Bubba which are my fur babies that I love very much.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, being active outdoors, and cheering on my boyfriend at the race track.

I can't wait to work with you and your kiddos!

Meet Miss Stephanie

Hello! My name is Stephanie Fowler, and I am excited to be one of your child’s lead Preschool Teachers for this 2022-2023 school year here at LVST. I am excited to work with you and your child as we go through this year of adventures and learning! A little about myself, I graduated from my “hometown” of Honesdale, PA in 2010 and went straight into working at a Nursing home for 7 years. I have been

working in the medical field for around 9 years now. I work in a classroom setting at the job I

transferred from working with children with developmental disabilities and children on the autism spectrum. I was in this role for 5 years. About a year ago I attended to college again for a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. I have a love for the outdoors, animals, and photography.

I am an only child, so growing up I have been very family oriented and love a good family get together.

I am an avid reader, my favorite genre is mystery or just a book someone wants to recommend. I am a night owl and love to stargaze whenever I get the chance. I am also an open book, and if you ever have questions or just want to talk, I am always willing. Again, I am excited to be starting at LVST and cannot wait to see where this journey takes me.

Meet Miss Kia

Hello LVST families! My name is Makiah Steigerwalt and I am one of the lead preschool teachers here at LVST!

I am from Allentown PA. I've been babysitting for almost 10 years with ages ranging from 9 months to 13 years old and absolutely love it!

Being able to play with the children in a positive, uplifting place, such as LVST, I have no doubt in my mind these children will expand their growth in imagination and creativity in so many ways!

Aside from child care I also coach a program called Girls on the Run. Girls on the Run specializes in inspiring girls to learn about athleticism and encouraging them to be who they inspire to be! Being able to talk to the young girls and helping them push past their struggles and look up to me is so rewarding day in and say out!

Outside the classroom, I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy snowboarding in the winter season at Blue Mountain, where I also taught younger kids! I love to play lacrosse and tennis, and enjoy golfing and paddle boarding in the summer!

See you all at the TURF!

Meet Miss Olivia

Hi LVST friends and families! My name is Olivia, and I am one of the assistant teachers here at the turf!

I grew up in Allentown and graduated from Parkland High School in 2020. I am currently a junior at Kutztown University, studying elementary education and visual impairment.

Outside the classroom, I love spending time with family, hiking, reading, and playing or watching sports! As a former high school soccer player, I know how fun it is to learn new skills and make new friends, and I cannot wait to provide those same opportunities for the LVST kids!

Meet Miss Jena

Hello LVST families! My name is Miss Jena and I am so excited to be supporting the social and emotional needs of the children here at the Turf with my mindfulness program each week at LVST!

I grew up in the Lehigh Valley area and have spent the past 15 years as a public school elementary classroom teacher! I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, have been trained in trauma informed practices, and am a certified mindfulness and yoga instructor for people of all ages. Throughout my years in the classroom, I found a passion for mindfulness, yoga, and social emotional learning, which led me to leave the classroom this past June, in order to share these tools and practices with others!

When I am not out and about teaching, I love spending time with my husband and two boys (ages 5 and 7), playing with my dog Nahla, hiking, exercising, reading, and being in the sunshine! :)

During our lessons together, the children will be learning personal tools and practices to help focus and pay attention, manage their emotions, understand their thoughts, feel good in their bodies, build self-confidence, and stretch their imaginations!  Mindfulness, simply put, is paying attention to the present moment. Through mindful art projects, music, breathing activities, and yoga, the children will have the opportunity to discover that they are in control of their minds and bodies!

I am looking forward to all the fun we are going to have together at the TURF!
